The Supreme Court finally decided a 2nd Amendment case. Which is good. And, I'm even slightly pleased with the decision. There was even some analysis. That's far more than just about every circuit court decision dealing with the 2nd Amendment since 1939. But the decision only directly relates to the DC gun ban, and within that ban, to pistols.
Within 15 minutes of the decision, two organizations sued the city of Chicago and Mayor Daley to challenge the Chicago gun ban. Mayor Daley had this to say about the decision. Well, once again, I'll just say that guns are already illegal in Chicago. So, I'm a little confused how things like this, this, this, this, this, and this, keep happening.
I guess my point here is that let's have a little intellectual honesty. Even if guns are illegal, gun crimes are going to occur. A large proportion of what a gun ban does is keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens who could be using them for self-defense. I would think the Mayor would see this as a wonderful opportunity to establish another Chicago income stream by taxing the hell out of gun ownership.
And remember kids, an armed society is a polite society.
